Cannot delete folder

John & Chris

I recently upgraded and use my old hard drive as a slave (G). A few weeks
ago I did some tweaks in the registry and didn't save the necessary settings
as all seemed well til I noticed there is a mirror of my hard drive (C)
folder, My Documents, in the slave drive (G) called John's Documents. When
I delete files in either folder its mirrored in the other drive, but when I
try to delete a folder I'm notified that I cannot do so as another program
or person is using it. I would like to do away with the G/John's Documents
as its rapidly eating memory.
thanks
John

When you check the property sheet for the 'My Documents' shortcut on the Desktop, what does it say the target folder is?

Check registry entries at the following locations:
"HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders"
Value Name: Personal

"HKLM\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DocFolderPaths"
Value Name: <username>

Compare the property sheet for the target folder with the property sheet of the folder on G: -- are they identical?

Did you somehow create a reparse point? Download 'Junction' from www.sysinternals.com to find out.

Thank you for your reply.
-The target folder for the 'My Documents' shortcut is C:\Documents and
Settings\John\My Documents
-The My Documents Properties is identical for the 'C' and the 'G' drives.
C:\Documents and Settings\John.
-When I go tof the link you provided it got confusing. I downloaded
'Junction' as well as 'Junction Source' but couldn't figure out what to do
next. When I executed the file it just flashed open, too quick to see, and
was gone.

By the way the 'G' drive is FAT32 and was originally W2000 while the 'C'
drive is XP and I presume NT.

Thank you for your reply
-When I check the property sheet for the 'My Documents' shortcut on the

Documents
-When I compare the property sheet for the target folder with that of the
folder in 'G' they are identical C:\Documents and Settings\John.
-When I checked the registry entries for
(HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders"
Value Name: Personal) The value data is %USERPROFILE%\My Documents
For (HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DocFolderPaths"
Value Name: <username>) the value data is C:\Documents and Settings\John\My
Documents
When I checked the link you provided it was confusing. I downloaded and
installed Junction and Junction Source but when I executed the program a
black box flashed, too quick to see before disappearing with no apparent
action being taken.
