Cannot Open Attachments

I cannot open attachments in Win Mail. I have already unchecked the security
feature about blocking certain attachments. When I go to Save As, i get a
"cannot execute command" error. When I try to open the attachment, nothing
happens.

I can't open or save attachments from Windows Mail. Antivirus (Vet) disabled
so is email scanner. Security settings unticked. When I try to save
attachments (regardless of whatever file they are), a message appears: "There
was an error saving one or more of your attachments. Please check your free
disk space and try again." I have 130Gb free on HDD & 1 Gb RAM. Win Vista
Home Premium.

This problem has been going on 3 weeks since computer was bought. rebooting
isn't helping at all.

Go to Start | Search and type msconfig.

Then go to Startup and uncheck everything. Then go to Services and disable
all non-MS services and then disconnect from the internet and reboot. Then
open a message with an attachment and see if you can save it.

If you can, then its one of those startup items that is causing the problem
and you can selectively enable them to see which it is. If not, then you
can re-enable the startup items and reverse what you did above and that will
at least rule out other programs as the culprit.

Normally, if functionality is messed up like this, then is some other
program that is interfering, which is why I suggest the above.

I've got the same problem since installing Vista Ultimate yesterday, and
can't seem to open or save attachments from windows mail. There has to be an
easy fix for this, I just wish someone would share it.

If you have Norton or McAfee then uninstall it and you'll then be able to
save attachments.

I've started to use Windows Mail for newsgroups and started to see a lot of
problems that were not around in OE6 :0( !!!!

I get this error too: "There was an error saving one or more of the
attachments."

AV has been turned off and i got about 50GB of HD space left

Also when i try to Combine and Decode large binaries i get "an error has
occured"

What the hell is going on with Windows Mail...???!!!!

Isn't it supposed to be better then OE6 ??

Anyway, anyone got a solution to these problems?

are MS going to release any hotfixes/patches etc for Windows Mail.

Cheers,
Riaz

I also have tried everything on these posts and I get the same answer. Way
too frustrating.

For me the problem is related to the size of the attachment...
upto 5mb seems OK while over 15mb gets an error,
although on one occasion a reboot allowed one 20mb save
followed by further errors. I think it is a space/memory
issue but haven't any real evidence.
