cannot launch powerpoint 2003

Hi there,

I need some inspiration to sort out this one...

I can't launch Powerpoint 2003, I only get a system error box saying
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not
have the appropriate permissions to access the item"

All other office applications run fine.

I tried reinstalling Office, and updating.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Wim

there is a microsoft.public.ofice.misc
newsgroup for questions like these.

but have you tried a detect and
repair?

tried to find and click the exe file in the office
program folder?

I know. However, the error message I get seems to be windows related,
judging from the info in the newsgroups.

yes, even uninstalled and reinstalled, pre and post
Office2003ServicePack2.
tried to find and click the exe file in the office
program folder?

Yes, that don't work neither.

Cheers,
Wim

since reinstalling office is not a problem
why not install "all" office and then
"only" install the powerpoint?

it might be easier to have only this one
module installed to figure out what
is happening....

Mickeysoft Black Voodoo!

I found the solution (problem goes back to Windows 2000...):
- start windows in safe mode (hold down F8) during laptop booting.
- Then launch Powerpoint.
- Close powerpoint.
- Restart windows normally.
- Use Powerpoint.
