cannot access any files or programmes

I am running windows xp sp2 my wife and I have seperate desk tops, when she
went to log in all her settings have changed ie background etc and she cannot
open any programmes she gets the following message: windows cannot access the
specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions
to access the item. We have not changed anything and my desktop works fine.

Her profile may be corrupted, or she may have had some invasion that changed
her registry Permissions.
