2. How can/must I create a .torrent with uTorrent if I want to
uTorrent-offer one of my own files? Which URL I have to insert? (I have
no own URL/Homepage).
There are two kinds of torrent files. The PL2006 ISO and Calendar Magic
torrent files are *trackerless* torrents. You do NOT insert a URL into a
trackerless torrent. When uTorrent says "Please enter a valid tracker
URL. Do you want to continue without having any trackers?" click on the
"yes" button and then save the torrent file.
A trackerless torrent file can be uploaded to *any* web site or
*emailed* to others. Once someone has the torrent file uTorrent can find
the download (if it's available) Trackerless torrents use distributed
hash tables to locate the downloads. See:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distributed_hash_table

Distributed hash tables (DHTs) are a class of decentralized distributed
systems that partition ownership of a set of keys among participating
nodes, and can efficiently route messages to the unique owner of any
given key.

A torrent *with* a tracker has to be uploaded to a web site that has a
tracker. uTorrent needs the URL for the tracker when you create a
torrent with a tracker.

tracker
A server on the Internet that acts to coordinate the action of
BitTorrent clients. When you open a torrent, your machine contacts the
tracker and asks for a list of peers to contact. Periodically throughout
the transfer, your machine will check in with the tracker, telling it
how much you've downloaded and uploaded, how much you have left before
finishing, and the state you're in (starting, finished download,
stopping.) If a tracker is down and you try to open a torrent, you will
be unable to connect.
My system: Windows HE SP1, Netscape/Mozilla-Browser, Kaspersky Internet
Security 6, uTorrent 1.5
I'm still using uTorrent 1.3 (going to update any minute now). . .
