Boston BA735 USB Speakers on XP Professional

C

Charles Darwin

I recently upgraded my Gateway computer with "on-board" sound, and Boston
BA735 USB speakers, to Windows XP Professional.

Needless to say, my PC has not made a sound since the upgrade.

I have tried all the normal tweaks and checks to try and get the speakers
functioning again but nothing seems to work. The patch that I did locate on
the web applied to Windows ME and 2000 but did not work on XP.

Has anybody encountered a similar problem and, if so, how was it overcome?

As expected, my emails to Gateway (whom both Boston and Microsoft indicate
are responsible for the fix) have not been responded to.

Sound drivers are Gateways. Go to their web site and check the download
area. You should have gotten a disk with the drivers on it.

The audio requires an XP-compatible driver. Since your computer
predates XP, you need to go to the Gateway support site for a driver, if
one is available. Alternatively, a Win2k driver *might* work. Try one
of the many driver archives. http://www.driverguide.com/

I am using Boston BA735 USB speakers on a Dell desktop and have also used them on an HP Brio. They need to be installed as a USB Human Interface Device and from memory, I had to to a driver update and point to a specific .inf file (don't hold me to the file type).

Once loaded, the speakers work fine.

I am using Win XP Pro.

Driver for Boston BA735 on XP

Hi, I have found the cause of why Boston Digital BA735 speaker not working on Windows XP Prof. Seems like the driver problem is not on speaker part, but on sound card part.

Anyway here is the link, hope this help
