What are those two tiny speakers on your monitor conected to? The sound
card? What maker is the computer? What maker is the sound card too? If you
need to know what sound card you have, go to run: and type dxdiag, this will
open DirectX and when the information finishes loading, click on sound, if
you have the card installed properly, it will show that tab. Under the tab,
it should tell you the sound card maker.

If the speakers on your monitor work but not the "other pair" of
speakers then the "other" pair of speakers needs batteries or are bad.

Hello,
Reading your post indicates that the following may help.
1. The new speakers need to be set-up, if they are powered, plug-in to an
outlet.
2. Make sure the speakers are all connected to each other, turn-on the power
switch and the volume level. There should be at least one plug-in from the
main speaker that will connect to the computer box.
3. Look in the back of the computer box for the connection from the monitor
speakers to the computer.
4. Unplug this line and plug in the new speaker line.
5. Try some sound to check if the new speakers are functioning.
6. The monitor speakers may have been plugged into a audio card or on-board
sound built into the motherboard. These connections are usually color coded
"pink,green,black" there may be more.
Hope this is of use.
take care.
beamish.
