Automatically stopping unnecessary services

Hi,

I have a few services related to USB devices which are plugged in an
unplugged as needed (Usually, they are unplugged).

Is there a way to configure the services so they'll automatically
stopped when all the devices they are needed for are unplugged?

Do we get to know what services you're talking about?

Your question has merit, but would (for now) rather ask about services
in general.
They can start automatically when needed, so I would expect a
mechanism that allows them to stop automatically when no longer
needed.

Does that make sense to you?

Does to me, but - unfortunately - not to XP.

Thanks for your reply! I was afraid it would be so. Is there a way to
detect via API whether a service is still in use?

Plan B would be to detect whether certain devices are connected, and
stop services based on that. Any pointers in that direction?
