No USB functionality

When I turned off my computer (Windows XP SP2) everything worked fine. After
I turned it back on my mouse had stopped working. After some fiddling around
I realized none of the USB devices were working anymore. When I plug in a
card reader, which works fine on my notebook, to any of the USB ports on my
desktop it doesn't work. Nothing happens (altho its light goes on so it's
getting power). I've unplugged all the USB devices, so I'm not over the
500ma power restraint. Thanks for your help.

Andrew you are totally out to lunch as usual. Please go away. Far
far away. As in Antarctica where there is no Internet service. And
stay there.

Do you have a PS/2 keyboard and mouse you can use, at least
temporarily so as to navigate around in Windows XP and see what is
wrong.

Open Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager. Make sure
your USB ports are listed and that there are no conflict or error
flags against any of them.

Also go into the BIOS setup on your computer and check the
configuration settings for the motherboard USB ports to make sure they
have not somehow gotten set to to "disabled" status.

Good luck
