Automatically goes into standby

My computer just randomly goes into standby. I have check the settings and
they all say never. I sometimes notice that it does it when I press the shift
key. Any help to get this fixed would be great.

I don't mean to insult you, but is it standby or screensaver activating?

No insult taken, I know many computer illiterate people, but it is definitely
standby.

Probably not related but in Control Panel > Power Options > Advanced tab,
are both settings under the 'Power Buttons' heading set to 'Shutdown'? If
not, try that. Odd behavior though. It sounds a little like a 'shortcut key'
like MSWord uses for inserting 'Symbols'. You said "I sometimes notice that
it does it when I press the shift key". This only happens sometimes? If so,
it's probably not a 'shortcut key'.
