Always ask before opening this type of file check box

Chad

I have a user that has checked the "Always ask before
opening this type of file" with an RTF extension to always
open. I need to have this option prompt them again, so
they can click Save. How do I change that setting?
Thanks,
Chad.

start, settings, folder options, file types, scroll to the type file you
need to change, click edit, make the obvious change.

That didn't fix it.

Let me do a situation.

1. User clicks on .ZIP file to download
2. The browser pops up a window asking to Save or Open.
3. The user unchecks the "Always ask before opening this
type of file" clicks Open.

-- Later On --
1. The user clicks another .ZIP file to download
2. The browser opens it.

-- Question --
How do you make it so that the "File Download" window
prompts to Open or Save.

Thanks,
Chad.

You set this for each file type, e.g. for .zip
Explorer-View-Folder Options-File Types
Find the .zip association (may be WinZip File)
Edit, (or click Advanced on ME or XP) and check the "Confirm open
after download" box

The path to Folder Options may vary according to your operating
system. It may be:
Explorer-View-Folder Options
Explorer-Tools-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Control Panel-Folder options.

Tell him not to do Step 3.
Open Windows Explorer and go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to the file type in question and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Check the box for "Confirm open after download".
