All of a sudden it started.

WM, when using it as the NG reader, it has started loosing the psw to logon
on the my ISP's NG server.

When it happens, I go to the account on WM to the Server tab, and I can see
that psw is blank all of a sudden, and I cannot give the psw as the field is
locked-out.

A pop-up window shows when I try to access a NG wanting user-id and psw. I
give the credentials and check-on remember the psw. It won't accept the
credentials and I eventually cancel out of the window.

Then all of a sudden, everything is ok when I try to access a NG, because
the Server tab now has the user-id and psw. :)

This problem may be caused by your antivirus program.
McAfee and Norton antivirus are not compatible with Windows Mail,
and should be uninstalled. Replace them with a compatible antivirus
such as the free version of Avast:

I appreciate your response. I have been using NOD32, which I started using
back 04/2007 and is Vista compatible. I have been posting with WM since that
time too. This just started happening today, where WM will loose my
credentials to login to the ISP's NG server, and I have to keep giving the
credentials.

I am also using Thunderbird as a NG reader as well, but TB is not loosing
the credentials. I use WM more than I use TB.

As far as we know, NOD32 is compatible with Windows Mail,
but be sure any mail scanning feature is disabled.
The only suggestion I have is to re-create that mail account from
scratch. Sometimes credentials get corrupted for no apparent reason.

I'll try your suggestion. However, the news group account and the Pop3
account are two different accounts. But, both accounts are presenting the
same credentials. I have no problems with the pop3 account and the loss of
its credentials to login to the ISP's Pop3 server, which NOD32 scans the
inbound emails. It's the news group account that's having the problem, and
NOD32 is not scanning NG posts that I know about.

But like I said, I'll delete that NG account and recreate it to see if that
stops the problem WM is having in loosing NG account's credentials.

Thanks

This is just a follow-up, because most people don't do it.

Your solution of deleting the NG account off the machine worked. But it took
an ISP's tech support person to force me to do it.

The problem followed over to Thunderbird as well, which lead me to calling
the ISP. I'll have to delete the account in TB as well and recreate the
account, along with establishing killfiles for certain posters in both NG
readers for the accounts.

That's the PITA part now. :)
