I have Win XP Prof SP2. I got this HP machine a month ago and everything
works great. Then I noticed that my Yahoo Toolbar and Google Toolbar have
swap around. So I went the View / Toolbars / and then unchecked Yahoo Toolbar
and then Google Toolbar. Then I went back to View / Toolbars / to reheck
Yahoo Toolbar and upon doing so, Google Toolbar came up on the browser.
Scratching my head here, I did the same thing except I checked Google Toolbar
and guess what? You got it! Yahoo Toolbar came up!
I figured that maybe IE6 got corrupted and that it needs to be repaired. So
I went to the Add/Remove panel and guess what? I found NO IE6 listed? Upon
checking further, I also did NOT see XP SP2 update there.
I am logged on as admnistrator by default but I cannot see those two
program/update in my Add/Remove list.
As a new XP user, am I missing something here? How can I repair IE6 or XP
SP2 if I cannot see it in the Add/Remove?
As for IE6, it is working great other than the minor add-in toolbar problem.
I did the sfc / scannow but still have the same problem. I have also looked
at the KB articles for fixes but do I really have to go through all that
hectic procedure just to fix IE6? It was pretty simple in Windows 98....can
the same be said in Win XP Prof?
Thanks for you time.
