True image is up to version 9.1 at the present time. Why would one want a
version that is outdated. Newer versions are released for many reasons,
among them is to repair problems in earlier versions.

Version 7 was not that good.

You will not get it installed on Vista. Acronis, at this time, does not have
a compatible version for Vista.

It installs find, but when you run it the Vista incompatibility dialog
appears. After uninstalling it and rebooting, you'll get a BSOD loop.

Just because a program is "newer" doesn't
always make it better.

With True Image 7 installed in XP, you can
purchase the upgrade to 9 for $29.99 instead
of $49.99.

The times I tested True Image 7 on XP, it seemed
to work just fine.

This wasn't meant as post encouraging folks to
install True Image 7 on Vista.

I reckon, I should include- YMMV.
Seems, YM did vary. Oh well.

Have you tried to restore an image yet. I did. No go. It wouldn't boot. It
is a known problem talked about a great deal on the TrueImage forums.

I've done a restore using version 9.1, from the secure zone. Works fine.

We've not been able to completely figure this out yet, either.

I can boot from the True Image (home) CD and image my vista HD and then
restore it if I need to.

But I can't seem to install the Vista image on another system
(sysprepped or not) unless Vista has already been on a hard disk. Once
Vista gets on there, we can put this Vista image on as a replacement.

Have you updated the MBR when you copy to another system. Vista has a
different boot process. Don't know if Acronis has it but it is an option in
Ghost at restore time.

It does install fine when you run the .exe file as administrator, however
when running the program as administrator the screen turn blue and the
computer restarts.
So the program is not compatibel with vista.
