accessing through scanners cameras is very slow

I just got a new dell system with XP. When I try to
access the scanners and cameras utility, it takes about 5
minutes of browsing to find it. Then there is nothing
there, which makes sense, because I have not attached any
devices ever. I initially noticed this when installing
photoshop. After installing, I tried to run it, but there
was a twain driver error causing it to hang up. So I
manually removed the twain driver from the PS program
files, and that allowed PS to open. But it seems as
though there was some type of conflict between that
driver and whatever is causing the scanners and cameras
issue. I've looked all over and found no cases like this
in support- anyone have any ideas? thanks

Did you check the scanner manufacturer's website for updated drivers for
your particular make and model of scanner.... and the same for the digital
camera manufacturer?
