abnormal program termination

I've been having a strange problem with IE6 ever since I downloaded a new
service pack, and I don't know if it's related to it or not. As I go from
site to site (sometimes opening a new site in a new window) I'll get an error
message saying "MS Visual C++ Runtime Library" and then it lists the path to
iexplore.exe, and says "abnormal program termination". Then it shuts down all
the explorer windows I have open. It's really annoying. Any ideas what gives?
Thanks. Dave

Runtime Library Microsoft Visual C++, Runtime Error Program
C:\Windows\Explorer.exe or Iexplore.exe, abnormal program termination.

also make sure you don't have both the Sun JRE and the Microsoft VM JIT
compiler enabled.

Thank you for your help, and I've checked the link you provided, but I have
searched my hard drive and I don't find a CommonName file/program to remove.
Any other suggestions? I also don't know how to verify which compiler I have
enabled - (Sun JRE or MS VM JIT)
Thank you. Dave

Frank
I've searched my computer for "commonName", "Toolbar", "Agent", "Mib",
Zenet", "Winnet", and "Comwiz". It doesn't appear I have this bug. Or should
I be looking someplace else? And I don't know how to check if I have the Sun
JRE or MS VM JIT compiler enabled. Can you give me a little more direction,
or get me pointed to someone who can?

The section for Microsoft will be called Microsoft VM and the JIT compiler
needs to be checked if you want to select it. I don't know what the Sun JRE
will be called.

I've gone into Tools/Internet Options/Advanced and find no section regarding
MS VM or anything like it. (I have Windows XP Pro, btw). Any other
suggestions?
Thanks. Dave

Then having both active isn't the problem, is it?
Did you go to

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of the programs
below, download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

If nothing there helps, please post back to this thread.
