Hi,

Configuration:

- Asus a7n8x-deluxe board v2 (bios v1007/sata-firmware v4.2.27)
- AMD Athlon 2500+ barton (11x166MHz)
- Maxtor 120GB s-ata harddisk (6Y120M0)
- 2 x 256 DDR pc3200 Siemens (SDU 03264B21IN-50)
- Asus V9520/TD/P/128MB
- Windows XP SP1
- s-ata silicon s3112 driver from asus site

Problem:

Instabel. Often XP bootproblems: chkdsk errors at boot. Without any reason
now, XP doesn't boot at all. Only the dos menu (safe mode, last good
config, etc). None of the menu options helps. After the XP bootlogo a very
short Windows blue screen flash and than spontanous reset.

XP repair from boot XP-cdrom doesn't succeed: problem with ntfs.sys
(F96508E9 base at F9641000)
I've tried the XP repair with only 1 DDR 256MB module in the DDR socket 1.
Doesn't help...
I've tried another s-ata cable. Doesn't help...

Is there a major problem with this board and Maxtor s-ata drives?

Help! What can I do? I can access the c: and d: partion with ntfsdos.
Boot.ini seems to be ok.

Kind regards,

Tjeerd
