A Question About Remote Assistance & Windows Messenger

S

Steve Remington

A question to the collective knowledge of the group.

I would like to be able to use the Remote Assistance to help my father with
occassional PC problems now that we both have Windows XP Pro and broadband
connections.

In the reading that I have done about Remote Assistance it is necessary to
have Windows Messenger installed on both PCs and initiate the Remote
Assistance session via Windows Messenger especially if one of both parties
are behind a firewall? Is this correct?

If this is the case which version of Windows Messenger is better to
reinstall 4.7 or 5.0 (I removed Windows Messenger 4.7 from my PC when I
installed MSN Messenger)?

Thanks in advance to all who reply.

Kelly,

Thanks for the reply.

I will install Windows Messenger 5.0 on both PCs and see how it goes.

Hi Steve,

Either, however you will be prompted to update, do so and be done.
