Why microsoft does not solve this never ending problem.
Messenger 4.7
Every time I erase that damn messenger, I can not go remote assistance
it displays:

.... wants to use the Remote Assistance feature with you, but you need to
update your version of Windows Messenger first. Please go to the Windows
Messenger update site to install the latest version.

LATEST VERSION IS 7! that is the one I have!
Why do I erase messenger 4.7? Because that program runs when I dont want to
have it loaded, it signs up when i dont want!!!!!!

To disable "Windows Messenger":

Open "Windows Messenger" and from the Toolbar select
Tools > Options > Preferences and uncheck:

"Run this program when Windows starts" and
"Allow this program to run in the background", then
click OK.

Next, open Outlook Express and from the Toolbar select
Tools > Options and under the General tab uncheck
"Automatically log on to Windows Messenger" and click
APPLY.

I understand that they are 2 different programs but they serve the same
purpose: Log on to an account and chat with people.
Why does not microsoft embeds on msn messenger the capabilty to have remote
assistance, so we can get rid of that damn messenger 4.7!!!!!

Direct link to download the Windows Messenger 5.1:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...5c6-b6e3-47f6-bcd1-466ad173f407/messenger.msi

If you want to use Remote Assistance ' you'll need to keep Windows
Messenger installed.

You'll have to ask Microsoft that queston, JP. For added security, the
latest versions of Windows Messenger don't include the same features as do
the latest versions of MSN Messenger.
And by the way that link does not work, it takes me to SP2, and I dont

No, it takes you to the latest version of Windows Messenger (v5.1) which
should be used with WinXP SP2:

<QP>
The latest version of Windows Messenger is available for Windows XP in
Windows XP Service Pack 2.
</QP>

You must have and use Windows Messenger to use Remote Assistance, JP.
