I just bought a mitsumi 7 in 1 internal floppy/flash card
reader and after installing it everything seems to work
fine except when i try to read a floppy it says please
insert disk. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Yes,

I bet your O/S is windows XP, XP can not read about 90% of the floppy drives
installed in PC's for some reason and know one seems to have an answer why
not.

There is one answer detailed in M$'s KB #Q140060.

And, in some other KB, there is a list of the types of FD that are
supported under XP; many FDs that work under earlier flavors of
WinSomething will not work under XP.

There are many many known cases that Windows XP can't work with a floppy
in an XP supported floppy format having the right media descriptor byte
while the same floppy drive with same floppy disk works on the same
computer in a different operating system.

Just do a Google search for XP floppy troubles.

Q140060 and Q309623 are for sure not the only reasons floppies fail that
often in Windows XP (apart from hardware causes).
There must be something wrong in Windows XP. The floppy driver?
