Floppy not reading

I bought a new computer. I tried the floppy but even
though the disk is inside, it says Insert disk in A. The
indicator light on the floppy turns on but does not read
any files (or fails to read the disk). Can anyone help me
understand whether it is a software problem or the floppy
drive is not working. The device manager says the floppy
is working fine.

Thank you

It may be identifiable to the Device Manager, however the read / write
functions are only used when a disk is inserted.

SO you have a faulty Floppy Drive or it has not been connected properly.

Back to the store you go and get them to fix it or replace it...so easy!

before taking it back to the store, try a safe reboot
(usually done by tapping the F8 key during reboot). See
if your a: drive is now accessible. If so then there is
no prob with your a: drive. Could be a software
conflict. In my case I had to unistall Norton antivirus.
