2006-03-05 issue with Defender

Today my two PCs at home both displated the little castle icon on the toolbar
with and explanation point.

When I opened it it says we have gone three days without a scan. When I hit
the scan button I receive "Windows Defender encountered an error: 0X80004003.
Invalid pointer".

Both PCs are running 1.1.1051 with engine 1.1.1186.0 and signature files
1.14.1288.5.

I had to uninstall and then reinstall to get them back to normal. Has
anyone else gotten such an error?

It could be that WOC downloaded some type of new definition that caused this
failure. I don't know.

I have read of others experiencing that error when the clicked the scan
button after that reminder. I think that can be avoided by using the scan
options on the toolbar at the top of Defender screen. Others have had to
reinstall. It might be good to schedule a quick scan to occur more frequently
and that alert message will proabably not reoccur.

I'm also getting an invalid pointer error with the 'scan not done in x days'
warning..
prolly just a beta bug

Several of us (well 3 so far) have reported scans running, 48 hours after
the last scan. These take place 20 minutes after the first login after the
48 hours are up - if you have automatic scans enabled.
