16 bit programs

I have been having a problem with my parents computer (xphome) running
some of their old 16 bit programs. The latest is called resourcemate,
a program for small libraries. Like some of their other 16 bit
programs, it runs fine once it starts but it takes about 5-10 minutes
to start. From the task mananger i can see that ntvdm and wowexec
start immediately. When the program finally loads foxw2600.esl also
shows in the task mananger. Resourcemate starts and runs perfectly on
my computer, also xphome. I have run sfc /scannow and also done a
repair install of XP. Nothing that I have tried has made a difference.
Any help would be apreciated.

foxw2600.esl is the runtime support library for the old FoxPro database
app. If resourcemate works OK on your XPhome system, perhaps you have a
different (updated) version of foxw2600.esl. See, e.g., this page:
http://www.dive-inn.be/foxpro.htm and the MS KB article that it links to,
as well as http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;248788

Thanks for your reply Lem, I tried the patch file but got the message
that foxw2600.esl did not need patching or could not be patched.

Since then I have installed the other 16 bit programs that my parents
are having problems with on my computer and they run perfectly. I
suspect a conflict with a proccess that is already running but after a
diagnostic startup the same thing happened, ntvdm and wowexec started
right up but not their application.

I know it can work since it works perfectly on my machine but I am
about ready to give up on their's. Any other ideas out there?
