Zooming/Moving Pictures

The other day my friend showed me a bunch of pictures on his Mac in a photo
program that moved the pictures like a video. By this I mean, It was a
slideshow, but it looked like a camera was zooming in on the pictures each
time they changed. It added a lot of motion to the slideshow. Is there any
way to do this in Powerpoint?

With a lot of effort yes. However PhotoStory for Windows makes it a snap.
Frre download from the MS site.

Just for my information, how would you go about doing this in powerpoint?
The reason I ask is that I will be using this slideshow in a church service
and I'm not sure that I will be able to use the other software. Thanks for
your response.

Assuming you are using PPT XP or 2003 you would use a combination of
Entrance, Emphasis, and Exit effects. If you want to get fancy you might
also toss in some motion paths and moving an image behind an object. How to
go about it really comes down to your taste, how much effort you want to put
in it, and some experimentation.
