zooming into slide

Teacher Suz

I have a presentation we are setting to music, and I
would like to be able to zoom into each slide SLOWLY, and
even have the individual pictures on the slides come in
SLOWLY. The SLOW speed setting that is default in Power
Point 2000 is NOT slow. Is there a way to change the
speed of a slide zoom, and a custom animation speed?
Thanks for any help I can get!

Hey Suz,

The transitions in PowerPoint (all versions) are locked into those 3 speeds,
but it doesn't have to appear that way to the audience. If you have
PowerPoint 2002 (XP) or 2003, then you can substitute animations for
transitions.

This requires a little set-up and some extra work but is a nice effect.

1) Set your presentation up the way you want it to sequence. Set the
transition to 'No Transition' (don't worry, really).

2) Use a screen capture tool to 'take a picture' of each slide as they look
when completed.

3) Paste this picture over top of the next slide.

4) Apply the custom animation Exit - Fade - and go to the custom timing
dialog box. (Click on the pulldown menu in the custom animation pane.)

5) Type the actual amount of time that you would like for the picture to
fade into the next slide.

6) Use this same technique to add very slow Emphasis - Grow screen capture
animations to the show.

Hope this gets you thinking along the right lines.

Bill -
Thanks for the idea. I will play with it. Does it work
for PPT 2000? I know someone who has XP on their
computer. If I create the presentation in XP, but
only have 2000 on the computer I'm showing the show on,
will the changes still work?
Thanks,
Suz

No, this would require PowerPoint 2002 or better, but ...

You could build the show on your friends PowerPoint XP and show it on your
computer using the new viewer. But this would mean that you could not edit
the show at all on your system.
