Help! On this day November 13, 2003 Zonelabs has taken over both of my
browser home pages Internet Explorer/Mozilla... Usually it's my Yahoo
Home Page that shows, but today Zonelabs(ZoneAlarm)has taken over.(I'm
posting this on another computer) There's no way to get out of it.
Any webpage I try to launch ZoneAlarm pops up telling me the
following:

--Notice from Zone Labs Internet Security
--This page is to notify you that ZoneAlarm has detected a problem
with your installation, and therefore has restricted Internet access
from your machine for your protection. Don't panic! The step-by-step
instructions listed here will help you to determine the problem, and
explain how to resolve the issue.--

what is going on!? please help! thanks,Teresa

Sounds like it's trying to tell you something important. Did you follow the
instructions?
I've never had this from Zone Alarm, but I think it's unlikely that it's
taken over your computer as you describe. Is there some reason you can't
stop it running?

I just read something about this behavior being caused by (spyware
type) programs installed on your computer without your knowledge.
Take a look at
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?lang=en&page=about and maybe
try out SpyBot

warez, as in (soft)wares, as in copies of legit programs distributed
illegaly. Sometimes hacked versions of programs that require a product key.
Often will also contain viruses or trojan horses, may not even be what it's
represented to be.

The original post sounds like some bogus program posing as ZoneAlarm. Where
did OP get the program?

Val;
Thank you for your reply. Warez was not in the nifty Merriam-Webster
Dictionary link I installed in IE.)

1) You can try going into the IE Options and change your
homepage there.

2) Try disabling or uninstalling ZA

3) XP has a built-in firewall that seems to be quite
good. I went to Norton's test page, running only the XP
firewall, and the test was equal to Zone Alarm and the
several other firewalls I've used in the past. You
probably don't NEED Zone Alarm at all.

Which brings up another issue for me, and I'll post it as
a separate message -- but I can't find any way to do any
adjustments to the XP firewall, so I don't know what it's
priorities are or, perhaps more important, where the logs
are...
