Zone Labs

Since uninstalling the free version of ZoneAlarm (I now have a wireless
router with built-in firewall), Zone Labs appears to have taken over my
browser - the only page I can access (allegedly from Zone Labs) starts with
the following:

"Notice from Zone Labs Internet Security

This page is to notify you that ZoneAlarm has detected a problem with your
installation, and therefore has restricted Internet access from your machine
for your protection. Don't panic! The step-by-step instructions listed here
will help you to determine the problem, and explain how to resolve the
issue".

The address bar shows my home page (Yahoo). I cannot access any other
sites, including my favorites - the address bar then shows

http://lockup.zonelabs.com/8083.html

Can anybody explain please? ZoneLabs will not help since this was a free
edition.

Terry I can only go from an older version but my educated guess is the
engine is still running.

Reinstall ZA if you can. Did you keep a copy of the original download?

When it's up and running find the box that enables run at startup and
uncheck it (or whatever the current setting is).

Reboot when sure it's stopped.

Now, reboot and ensure that ZA is not running. You must be certain of
this.to make sure it saved the setting.

Uninstall

Reboot and see what happens.

I maybe have an answer. There is a community for Zone Labs also. Go to
http://forums.zonelabs.com/zonelabs on your son's computer and ask them what
to do. Try to choose the appropriate board.

You might have to sign up for posting but it doesn't cost you anything.

Regards / Gunilla.

Managed to get into the Zonelabs site on my son's laptop but can't find any
uninstall help. This thing has completely taken over my internet browsing.
Every page is this sodding ZoneLabs warning. Please, please - how do I get
rid of it?

Terry Dutson

Depends on the version installed, please browse the pages for help, they are as
close as I can find for uninstall instructions.
