Did you look in the program control to see which services are blocked?
Look for red X(es) on entries like Generic Host Process for Win32
Services and make sure they are not X(ed) out

I have ZA version 5.5.062.004 working well with XP (SP2).

As for accessing the internet, by default ZA (and most other firewalls)
block everthing from going out. You need to "train" ZA to let selected
programs have access. Usually, ZA will popup a message about program so&so
is trying to access the internet, and offers yes, no, yes always, and no
always as options. If the program is IE6, Mozilla, Firefox, Netscape, etc,
the answer should be yes always. Other programs you need to decide on a
case by case basis.

If you accidentally say no always, then you must manually fix that from
within the ZA program control section.

A few "tricks" I have found:

1. If you have Norton products, add these to the list of trusted websites
in ZA:
www.symantec.com and liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com

2. "Microsoft help and support center" should ahve green check marks under
"access".

Finally, with ZA working, you probably want to turn off the XP firewall,
since at best it is redundant.

THIS WAS IT!
Thx a lot, slippery_one! I'm answering you now protected by ZoneAlarm! You
made my day (or night, as midnight has passed more than one hour ago where I
live).

I've read your solutions for other XP and ZoneAlarm users and I have a
problem for you. Please read this error meg:
The description for Event ID ( 5011 ) in Source ( TrueVector Service )
cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry
information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer.
You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see
Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event:
[SAPI] 212 C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\VSINIT.dll ED149F18 81
C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zlclient.exe 400000 + 20466"

I can't get ZoneAlarm to load and run on my XP Home SP2 now...can you help
me please?

Very kindly,

Stephen

Forget about this illusion ware!

Use your built-in firewall

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/security/winfirewall.mspx
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308127

And utilize
Seconfig XP 1.0

Additionally ensure to use proven AV/A-S applications and your OS is
updated/patched.

Hello,

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of ZoneAlarm.

Another thing you can try is to restore your system to the point where the
problem was not there. If you installed any programs after the point of
restoration, you may have to reinstall them.
Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.
