Zone alarm firewall - email doesn't work

M

Melissa

Since I have installed my Zone alarm firewall... my XP
outlook program does not work. I have to turn off the
firewall in order to get or receive e-mail.

Is there a way to get them to work together?

They do. But since this is not a direct Outlook issue but a ZoneAlarm issue
it's better that you contact ZoneAlarm or use a ZoneAlarm newsgroup for
this.

I tried the Zone Alarm help first... they were unable to
get it to work. They suggested this newsgroup.

Sounds strangely similar to the Norton related Outlook problems from a few weeks ago.
Turn off your email scanning as suggested.

I just ran into this problem (again)! You may need to uninstall both Zone
Alarm and Norton AV. Reinstall Norton, then install Zone Alarm after that.
Worked for me.

Just a guess. But in Zone Alarm check on the left pane "Program Control"
Next check BOTH the program tabs and component tabs. Run down the list and
make sure everything related to MS Outllook has been given permission or at
least a "?" to promt.

Do this also for the "component Tab" in Zone Alarm under "program control".
I suspect that you may have revoked permission either to the Outlook Progarm
itself or to one of its components to access the internet.
