My .zips are appearing as folders in the 'folders' column, how do I turn
this on/off?

Fred

Disable .Zip file integration from XP.
Start | run | type "regsvr32 /u zipfldr"

Install Winzip to open zip and other compressed files.

Folder Options> View. Uncheck the box to use Simple Folder View. Click OK.
The zip files will now be listed as files.

Hi,

To disable:
regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll

To enable:
regsvr32 zipfldr.dll

Kelly, you appended this to my reply so I'm replying to you. :)

While your method works (and very efficiently too!), the way I suggested
works as well. The difference between the two, is that by using Folder
Options, the zip folder features stay intact (However, Search will continue
to go looking through the danged zip files!). Using the regsvr32, the feature
is lost until you re-register the DLL. But Search won't be dragged down.

If the user has an alternative zip program installed, they will probably
want to use your method.

If they use the XP zip feature, they'll need to decide if they want to
uncheck a box or register/unregister the DLL file as needed. And of
course, they'll need to factor the "search in zip files" situation into their
decision as well.
