Zipping file

I have set up my database to prompt for username and password using the
security wizard at work. I emailed the database to home office and made a
desktop shortcut with the correct Target Path. Access software, database
loc, secure.mdw file loc. I am zipping up the mdb and resending it back to
work. For some reason the file is not compressing - it shows as a zip file
icon but the size is the SAME as the .mdb original file. Older access file.
mdb's zip up just fine - so it makes me think it is dependent on this
specifice database. Not sure why this is happening or how to undo????

Thanks,
Barb

The security wizard (if that is what you used), encrypts the mdb. The
encrypted file will get little or no compression when zipped.

Anyway that I can send this back to the office(too large the way it is - or
zip it. What needs to be done on the office end if modify it to be able to
zip it.

Thanks,

When I go to Tools, Security, its is asking me to Encrypt not Decrypt(even
though I used the Security Wizard to set up for prompting for username and
password. Encrypting does make it smaller so I can email the database. Then
will I send it to the work office where they have a shortcut set up. Do they
just use this Encrypted file name as the target path or do they need to
Decrypt it???? I even opened the file I just Encrypted on at home computer
and tried Tools, Security, Decrypt but prompted me for Encrypt again???

What am I not getting???

Thanks,
Barb

If the mdb is encrypted, and you run that it will decrypt it (and zipping
will have an effect). If the mdb is decrypted and you run it, it will
encrypt the mdb.

They don't have to do anything at the other end.
