I'm trying to create a zip file, but the option isn't there with new folders.
I'm using windows xp home.
What am I doing wrong?

Windows XP Home - you would select the files/folders you want to create a
ZIP folder/file out of and after selecting them all (SHIFT+Click or
CTRL+Click, etc), you would right-click on them and choose to Send To -->
Compressed (Zipped) Folder....

Now - which part are you not doing?

Get a 3rd part archive progroam.
WinZIP, IZarc, etc...

What is built into WinXP is minimalistic at best.

Run the following in Start -> Run:

regsvr32.dll zipfldr.dll

The methods in zipfldr.dll is where Windows gets its zip file support.
There are just a few functions available in zipfldr. You might want
to instead get a better 3rd party free zip utility, like 7-Zip.
