I have done some testning with XP and zip-files. It seems to be able to
"read"/unpack zip-files and also be able to generate them. That works fine.

Is there anything that XP can´t do concerning zip-files? And which could
make me consider to buy Winzip or other programs?

I think of password-protection, limits to amount of MB or files, or.....?

Can anybody help me with some facts?

Regards
Anette

I like IZARC, which is free. It can span disks.

Hi Anette

I've been using Winzip for years and haven't had any problems with it.
There are several advantages over the XP 'zip' utility. The main one - I
find - is that you can password protect a zip file using Winzip - very
useful!!

I remember reading a while ago that the Zip function in XP
couldn't handle long file names very well. I read this before
installing XP myself, and I use 7-Zip, so I've never run into the
problem.
