ZIP files as Folders

I hope this is an appropriate group for my question. Please let me know and
I will repost if necessary.

In my Windows Explorer windows, I noticed recently that ZIP files are being
listed on the left pane as though they were subfolders. The ZIP files are
still listed on the right pane as usual. I don't recall having seen this
before, but also nothing has changed (that I am aware of).

Is there something that could have changed? Is there a setting that I can
change to only list the ZIP files on the right pane?

Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I will try this and go from there.

I have another question about Windows Explorer. Whenever I insert a disk
into my Iomega ZIP drive. a second Explorer window pops up showing only the
contents of the ZIP disk (at least the default display). Is there a way to
stop that extra Explorer window from appearing?

Thanks.

You may need to get the PowerToys for XP TweakUI and disable the auto-start
for the drive letter that your ZIP drive is configured for.

Can you go into explorer and right click on that drives letter. In the box
that pops up is there an 'autoplay' tab? If so, one of the options should be
do nothing.
