Zip files and 2002!

P

Philip Martin

OK, I've searched through the last several months of posts and there don't
seem to be a confirmed answer to this. So if anyone can help please, please
do:blush:)

I can insert (attach) a file with a .zip extension to an email quite
happily, but it wont send it. The dam email just sits in the out box!!!

Now if I use ie to log into my mail via the web I can create an email,
attach the zip and send it, so it aint my isp where the problem is.

How on earth do we get round this problem?

I cant recall having this problem on previous versions of Outlook.

TIA,

Phil Martin.

Not necessarily true. When you use the Web interface, you are NOT using
your ISP's inbound mail server, at least in the same fashion a mail client
on your PC uses it. It could still be their problem.

Does Outlook Express on your PC work correctly? If not, that's an
indication that either your ISP's inbound mail server isn't working
correctly or that you don't know how to correctly specify you acccount
parameters. That's not an insult, just an observation.

Hmm don't know about a single file of the same size, but if a decompress the
zip (its got 15 files in it) the total volume goes up from 680 Kb to 928 KB.
This little lot, all 15 files attached will send with no problems. These
files are a mix of word files and jpegs.

To answer Brian's comment, Outlook express is just set as a news reader, no
email is configured on it. But I've gone through all the settings on Outlook
and can see nothing that would seem to make a difference?

Ok - so this tells us it's not a problem with the MTU settings.

And you can attach it properly, so it's not a problem with the zip
extension's registration....

Does it send if you change the extension to zip_ or something like that?

Hi,

No it still 'wont go'(

However I am getting an error box after outlook has tried to send the email.
It reads:

Task 'mail.btinternet.com sending' reported error (0x8004004109): Unknown
error
0x80040109.

So I suppose if we knew what this error number meant, we might be able to
solve the problem?

Thanks for you help so far:blush:)

Try... Tools, Options, Other, Advanced Options, addins and uncheck any
unnecessary extensions such as Exchange Extensions property pages and Server
Extension. You can probably uncheck all of them until you see if it works.
