Cannot send .zip files via Outlook

R

Robin

For some reason my Outlook 2002 will not allow me to attach .zip files. I
can send any other type of file such as .jpg, .gif, .html. or whatever.
I have checked the zone setting and it is set at internet. I know I used to
be able to send .zip files and I haven't changed anything so far as
settings.

Does anyone know what could be causing this?
Thanks
Robin

Outlook will not allow you to attach .zip files. So how do YOU know that?
Does some error appear? Does the file attach operation complete without
error but you don't see it show up when composing an e-mail? It looks like
it got attached and even your copy has it but the recipient gets your e-mail
without the .zip attachment? SOMETHING leads you to believe it is not
getting attached.

MY outlook at work will NOT let me attach zip files either. It is
understandable why they configure it in that way, they wish to avoid
viruses. Sysadmins can decide and set up the programs behaviour. It is only
right and proper.

MY home Outlook WILL let me send zip files, I can configure how I like,
sysadmins can;t change the programs behaviour.

Such protection is there for valid reasons.

The OP has not said whether it is home or work.
Is the OP trying to send from a home PC? Look at the program options,
particularly the security settings.
If from a work PC talk to your IT people.

(And even if it is protected there are work rounds to overcome sending
them).

Hi,

Inquiring minds want to know...

What happens when you try to attach a ZIP file?

Sincere thanks,

It disappears- not there when the mail is received.

Well, when I click on the Insert/Attachment icon and search for a .zip file
to attach, it does nothing at all. No matter how much I click on the file.
And if I click on a say .gif or other file type it inserts it into the
Attachment area of the email.
Thanks

Sending from a home PC that used to be able to send .zip files. I believe
it changed some setting when I had to reinstall it and I can't figure out
what.

Please see my reply to "Vanguard". I can click on it all day it will do
nothing. However when I click on any other file type it inserts it into the
attach area of the email.
Thanks
