Yet another HAL question

I have an image based on Compaq nc2400 ACPIAPIC_UP [ACPI Uniprocessor PC] and
as expected, my Compaq nc6000 which is a ACPIPIC_UP [Advanced Configuration
and Power Interface (ACPI) PC] is rejecting it with a nasty white line at the
bottom of the screen.

I can however put the nc6000 image on my nc2400 but the HAL for the newer
model reverts to the older model which is something I don't want to do.

I've tried the sysprep.inf hal detection switches but no joy thus far. Any
one out there who've done this successfully and care share some tips/sysprep
file?

Thanks,

Rafael

WOW! This sounds like a great fix but not sure I can sell this to my client.
Also, creating an app to call Windows API is not my cup of tea.

Thank James.
