Yellow security padlock does not appear on taskbar

I used to see this padlock on Windows Me but, I am now
using XP, and it doesn't appear on a site that is secure.
How do I get it to appear on the taskbar?

Hi

Do you mean the Status bar in IE? Do you have the View/Status Bar option
ticked?
