IE 7.0 128bit Secure Sites Login

I was wondering why IE7 does not show a padlock at the bottom of its
window to indicate that the site has a secure login ? Mozilla Firefox
does have the padlock but not IE7 on Windows XP SP3. Any reason for
that ?

Thanks in advance

Hello Victor:

Perhaps you see the golden locked padlock at the extreme right side of
the URL when logging into an appropriate site?

IE7 very clearly indicates a secure site. Check it out again and look
closer. The padlock appears just to the right of your Address Bar unless
you've done too much engineering type work on it. Some places even
color the Address Bar itself but the padlock is always there.

IIRC same on IE8.
