It's extremely unlikely that this has anything to do with just Word. Even
brand-new cartridges can sometimes be faulty, or the print-head nozzles for the
yellow ink may be clogged and need cleaning.
Run a printer test page (in Start > Settings > Printers & Faxes, right-click the
printer and choose Properties, then click the Print Test Page button; or use the
printer's specific dialog from the Printing Preferences choice on the
right-click menu). Check that the yellow part of the test is printed correctly.
If it isn't, then run the printer's cleaning cycle.
Did you check to make sure that nothing is blocking the print head, like
tape?
