envelope font color

I am having a problem with my font color when printing envelopes. I can print
in black for documents and do have black ink in the ink cartridge. On the
toolbar in Word2000, in the options in the envelope address window (Envelopes
and Labels), and also in Envelope Options tab I have black selected for the
color. A few months ago it was printing in red, and now it is printing in a
yellow-green.
How can I remedy this situation?

Some printers e.g. some Lexmark models use a composite colour for envelope
printing for some odd reason. If the colour cartridges are empty or blocked
you will get odd coloured envelope text. Confirm also that the font colour
is indeed 'black' and not 'auto'.

Hi Graham,
Yes I have verified that all of the font colors are set to 'black' and not
to 'auto'.
Yes I am using a Lexmark printer and will have to verify that I can print in
all colors. I was assuming that the printer would use the black ink
cartridge. I'll have to see if I can have the printer perform a cleaning
operation and then print a color test page. I did think of the possibility of
the printer using the color ink cartridge. I'm hoping that will remedy the
situation, although I'm not sure why Lexmark would have chosen to print an
envelope using black font color with the color ink cartridge. I'll see if I
can report back, hopefully with success. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

It's not just envelopes but apparently any small paper size. I don't think
anyone has ever figured out the reason for this.

If that is the case then it should be easy to work around by using an A4 or
US Letter paper size and set the margins and position the envelope styles
relative to how an envelope would feed through the printer.
