Yahoo Messenger & Cant Restore Computer to an Earlier Point

Hi,

Yesterday morning I was prompted to upgrade my Yahoo
Messenger from version 5.6 to 6.0. The installation took
and worked fine. Last night when I cut my laptop on and
clicked on the new 6.0 icon .... nothing happened. It
simply would not open. I uninstalled and reinstalled the
program numerous times with the same result. Therefore I
removed it completely from my system and reinstalled the
earlier version of 5.6 and kept getting the following
message. "The application has failed to start because
MSVCR71.dll was not found. Reinstalling the apllication
may fix the problem. I am unaware of what this is or even
how to obtain it to fix the problem. I then tried to
restore my computer back to an earlier point and time.
When I attempted to do this the calendar would not go
back to any month other than the current month. This I
dont understand because I have had this laptop for well
over 11 months now. I would certainly appreciate anyones
help in aiding me in resolving both issues or just one of
them.

Do you have a program called "Chandler" installed? If so, try uninstalling
and reinstalling it, this may fix your problem. If not... I don't know what
to tell you, but the dll file you mentioned is from Chandler (if I am not
mistaken)

Just because you have had your computer for 11 months does not mean you can
restore to 11 months ago. Go to start/help and support and search on "system
restore".

I have a missing MSVCR71.dll which pops up when I try to
run AOL 9.0, although an older 8.0 version on my computer
didn't have this problem. Unfortunately, AOL had me erase
all of the programs and reinstall from a fresh disk --
which I have tried several times from several disks -- to
no avail. {I only occasionally use AOL and access it
through my Broadband via Charter.)
I cannot find this particular DLL in the Microsoft DLL
library. When I tried to accessit from your server as
listed below, I don't have the right program to open
it .... and ended up at PC Doctor, which told me I had
132 problems and order it now to fix them!!
HELP!
If I can find this, what folder should I put it in.
(Otherwise, internet explorer opens just fine from my
Charter Pipeline Broadband, which is what I usually use.
THANKS!!
