Yahoo Group Email

Guest

I am subscribed to a Yahoo Group.. However, I want all the mail from that
group and its members to be placed in a separate folder to view at a later
time. How can I set this up? there is so much mail, that I can't weed
through to my more important mail... Thanks.

For those emails, does the 'From' address always contain the same
phrase, such as YahooGroups? If so, you can write a Message Rule:
Tools, Message Rules, Mail, New...

Where the From line contains...
Move it to the specified Folder
and Stop processing more rules.

Can Windows Mail import e-mails from Yahoo.

If so. Is there somewhere that has step by step instructions?

Thanks!

Troubleshooting instructions.

If you followed the above configuration steps, you should be all set.
However, if you cannot send or receive mail with your email client, try the
following tips.

The BT Yahoo! Mail SMTP server requires authentication. Make sure you have
enabled SMTP authentication. To turn this setting on:

1.. From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
2.. Select the "Mail" tab.
3.. Double-click the account labeled "pop.mail.yahoo.com."
4.. Select the "Servers" tab.
5.. Check the box next to "My Server Requires Authentication."
6.. Click "OK."
To control deletion of messages from the Yahoo! Mail Server:

1.. From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
2.. Select the "Mail" tab.
3.. Double-click the account labeled "pop.mail.yahoo.com."
4.. Select the "Advanced" tab.
5.. In the Delivery section at the bottom of the window, check "Leave a
copy of messages on server" if you want to save your Yahoo! Mail messages on
the Yahoo! Mail server as well as on your local computer. Do not check this
box if you want your messages to be deleted from the Yahoo! Mail server once
you have received them in Outlook Express.
If your ISP blocks port 25 or if you're unable to send email, then you will
need to use port 587 when sending via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. To make this
change, please follow the directions below:

1.. From the "Tools" menu, select "Accounts"
2.. Select your Yahoo! POP account and click on the "Properties" button
3.. Click on the "Advanced" tab
4.. Next to "Outgoing server (SMTP), change port 25 to 587
5.. Click "Apply", then click "OK" and "Close"

The OP is posting from the US, which does not get free POP
access to Yahoo.

In that case... abandon ship!
Get a gmail and forward all Yahoomail to gmail.
(The forwarding option works?)

That's really poor.... even for free.

Change to Gmail... email all yahoo contacts with new id.

I agree. Yahoo web mail and Hotmail are poor choices
compared to Gmail.

To be fair the UK version of Yahoo mail that comes with
a BT broadband account isn't too bad for web mail
(well... it won't be when they've finished tinkering with it)
but there's probably a financial consideration as a part
of the broadband package.

That said, I rate gmail... it fits easily with every interface I've tried
and it's own web portal is pleasant with good features. And if one
is to be bombarded with adverts they may as well be bespoke.
