xx New Messages

When I start WinXP it says I have xx New Messages. Where are these
messages? I have no unread messages on Outlook or Outlook Express. I also
checked on my Yahoo Mail account and no messages there. Does XP look
anywhere else for messages? It used to pretty much tell me the right number
of messages I have on Outlook, but now it's showing something like 58
messages.

Hi

You can get rid of that message:

Download TweakUI from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx and
when installed go to Programs>Powertoys for Windows XP>Tweak UI - then go
to Logon>Unread Mail - disable it in the right hand pane.

Otherwise the Unread Mail message can be disabled via the Registry -
navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Youremailaddress]
- double click on 'MessageCount' - in the right hand pane - and change
the value to 0(Zero).

Hey, that was quick! Thanks. I found that it was looking at a hotmail
account that my son had logged into. I just deleted that mail account.

Thanks again,

Hi Skip

Yes - that message does refer to Hotmail. Deleting the account should
hopefully solve the problem.
