How do I get this %$&^#$ program off my computer?? It is
not visible on the "uninstall" window of all programs,
and when I access it manually to delete it, it cannot be
deleted because it is "in use." I hate this thing. Can
anyone help?

To deal with any sort of "adware" and/or "spyware,"such as Gator,
Comet Cursors, Xupiter, Bonzai Buddy, or KaZaA, and their remnants,
that you've deliberately (but without understanding the consequences)
installed, two products that are quite effective (at finding and
removing this type of scumware) are Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.de and
SpyBot Search & Destroy from http://security.kolla.de/. Both have
free evaluation versions. It's even possible to use SpyBot Search &
Destroy to "immunize" your system against most future intrusions. I
use both and generally perform manual scans every week or so to clean
out cookies, etc.

Bruce,

While the above is true, there are still many things that haven't been
picked up by them. AdController is years old and neither of those programs
knows it.

I haven't heard of that one, either. Have you a more effective
solution that you'd recommend?

Bruce,

No mate, at this moment I don't. Please don't take it that I was putting
either prog down. I just thought it would be a good idea to know that both
programs still miss some beauties!

AdController is easy enough to find, assuming it is on your machine.
Windows-F and enter "AdController" and if you have it, you will find it. I
have only done a cursory glance under registry and it exists there, too, on
my machine that has it. I have emailed both Adaware AND Spybot contact email
addresses as per their web pages some week or 2 ago and no response so far.

Oh, I understood that you weren't denigrating either program, and
it is good to know that they have weaknesses. I was just asking about
alternatives for my own information, and to possibly recommend to
others.
