XPP autocomplete does not function

Although I have enabled Autocomplete in the Options of Browser and Internet
Folder of Contol Panel , the Autocomplete function does not work. MS help
gives a recipe for modifying The Registry but it specifies " autocomplete "
for file names and only by cueing a hexidecimal key (?).

I would like a general all-purpose, all-the-time autocomplete function ( as
I had w/ ME ).

Any advise is appreciated.

in the Protected Storage System Provider sub-branch of the Registry.
