XPhome/XP Pro install failure

I have the following lockup occur when installing either
XP Pro or XP Home on a new computer.

Motherboard A7V8X-X
512 meg ram - PC3200 - as per mother board specs
Geforce Vid card
DVD Rom (LG)

The system boots from the cd rom and get past the press
F6 for array driver install and then proceeds to load all
the files to ram:
It then gets to the screen:
Welcome to setup screen with options
Enter to set XP
R to repair installation
F3 to quit installation
The computer at this stage locks up

I have swapped out All parts with no success past this.
I have also disabled most variable Bios options (legacy
usb, onboard sound/nic)
