XP2 installation issues.

Crazy but true, I have also installed SP2 on numerous machines without
problems until now. A brand new hard drive, 2 partitions, install XP SP1 and
security updates. Install MSO 2K3 and activate it, install HP Photosmart
8450 printer, then try to install SP2 and machine never gets to the screen
that shows you that Windows XP is starting. Why?

Dave;
First there is no reason to install the other security updates if you were
immediately going to install SP-2 since all the previous Critical Updates
are included in SP-2.

Follow the Service Pack Installation Checklist to install SP-2:

Jupiter,

I wasn't sure if I was going to install XP2 initially. I was debating it
for quite some time as I am not completely happy with the security center not
recognizing applications for av and fw that are not from either McAfee or
Symantec. While I have found the setting to change to keep the stupid
messages from appearing, still changes need to be made.

Additionally, I solved my problem. It turned out to be a bios setting that
was allowing windows to view my new HP Photosmart 8450 USB printer as a boot
device.

Anyhow, thanks for your response.

Dave....
