Hi

What if any, error messages do you see when trying to use System Restore.

Is there no entry in Add/Remove Programs for SP2?

No, there is no entry in my Control Panel for either SP1 or SP2, and Sytem
Restore says it can't restore . . . no matter what date I choose?

Hi

For System Restore:

One or more of the System Restore files could have been corrupted - try
turning SR off/on - but I'm afraid that you will lose any existing
checkpoints:

Right click My Computer, select Properties and then the System Restore tab.
Enable 'Turn off System Restore on all drives' and reboot your PC. After
that 1st reboot go back into SR and disable 'Turn off System Restore on all
drives' and reboot your PC again. After that 2nd reboot you should have one
new SR checkpoint.

How did you install SP2 - via Windows Update or did you download the SP2
file?

Windows Update site . . . Auto Update doesn't appear to be working . . . (it
did when I had XP1), but after a cpl trys @ the Windows Update site, SP2
installed. It failed a cpl times then succeded? In case that makes a
difference?

I don't have, or doesn't show in Search . . .
%systemroot%\$NtServicePackUninstall$\spuninst ?

W

Will Denny

%systemroot% is the Windows folder - so could be
C:\windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$\spuninst

Hi

Other files should be in that folder as well as the .TXT file - usually
including one for uninstalling SP2.

There are 159 files in that folder . . . how do I know which ones to delete?
All but the most current?

Hi

They will be from the SP1 Hotfixes probably. I don't know why that file
isn't there to uninstall SP2. Did you get any error messages during the SP2
Upgrade - any hiccups at all? Was System Restore working properly before
SP2?

Hi

Please don't delete any of them, unless you know exactly what they are for.
I'm still trying to figure out why there is no SP2 in Add/Remove Programs
and why there is no spuninst.exe file to uninstall SP2 - the two could be
connected.
