XP1 cd key with SP2

Hi,

I purchased a second-hand computer which has Windows Xp Pro with Sp2
installed.
I went to update and that the cd key is invalid.
I have a retail version of Windows Xp Pro with Sp1. I followed the guide on
the microsoft site to change the cd key over, however it kept saying it was
invalid.
Is there a difference between Sp1 and Sp2 keys? Is there a way to change my
key over to an Sp2 key so i can update windows? Or do i have to re-install
(not what i want to do) and then install Sp2?

Thanks in advance for any comments/recomendation.

Try the following:

The Genuine Advantage Product Key Update Tool is only valid for
users attempting to change their current non-genuine Product Key
to a genuine COA sticker or genuine Product Key - all without a reinstall! http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=50346&clcid=0x409

Thanks for your feedback.
I tried to use the program microsoft provided, but after it finished
analysing, it threw up an error stating i wasn't on the internet.
Looks like i'll have to try a slipstream of my Sp1 disck with Sp2.

Thanks again.

Well, dont know what went wrong. Every time i tried to DL that program with
Mozilla, it would fail after the program scanned the system.
But i DL'd it again with IE and it worked properly...

Looks like just another microsoft oddity.
Created a slipstream version too, just in case.

Cheers.
